Description
In the soft hour of dawn, a faint breeze brushes the surface of a glassy sea…
A vision glides out of the mists, the tall foremast bearing five ghostly white square sails echoes the symmetry of a Buddhist pagoda. Offshore, a myriad islands stand on end in the sea, rocky sentinels that look as if they were dropped down by a giant hand. A throaty temple gong sounds through the swirling mists, greeting Star Clipper as she slowly makes her way into the harbor. This is the beginning of your journey to the ends of the earth in Thailand’s Andaman Sea, a voyage into the mysteries and marvels of a far-eastern land little known to the western world.
We’ll take you to a hidden corner of the Orient that adventurous travelers treasure for its unspoiled beaches and dream-like natural beauty.
|
|
The little ports and scores of islands dotting the Andaman Sea along the west coasts of Thailand and Malaysia have long been stopping places for traders from India, Indonesia, China, Burma, Arabia and Europe. Here, indigenous peoples traded for goods they could not obtain locally.
So it’s not surprising to see temples that look Chinese and wooden fishing boats that could be Portuguese. The people are friendly and their smiles are genuine, perhaps because they haven’t had to cope with crowds of tourists. The clarity of the water and the variety of coral and marine life are amazing.
|
| |
What’s more amazing is that many of these beautiful islands and their surrounding waters are designated national parks, preserved forever to explore and enjoy. When you walk along a palm-fringed beach, the only footprints you see might be yours and a sandpiper’s. For diving and snorkeling, or just curling your toes in warm sand, this is paradise found.
After exploring the pristine beauty of the Andaman Sea, select sailings continue along the western coast of Malaysia to Malacca, known as the “City of Dreams” and also the oldest city in Malaysia, before reaching cosmopolitan and very immaculate Singapore.
You may combine two 7 night cruises for a 14 night cruise. |

Star Clipper

Twin ships of identical elegance
|
Star Clipper & Star Flyer
The stars of the sea...
Star Clipper and her sister ship Star Flyer are as fleet as the wind and as graceful as swans. These are true clipper ships, reflecting their proud heritage in every inch of polished brass and gleaming brightwork. |
| |
Step aboard these unique vessels and discover a new age of sail, where the traditions of the past are happily married to the comforts and amenities of the present. Star Clipper and Star Flyer are modern cruise ships in every way, created for comfort-loving passengers who also love the traditions and romance of the legendary era of sailing ships.
Star Clipper and Star Flyer are both 360 feet long and each carries just 170 guests in pampered comfort. Life aboard is blissfully relaxed, much like travelling on a private yacht. You’ll never feel confined, as each ship offers pleasingly spacious accommodation and expansive teak decks with ample space for relaxing and play. In fact, you’ll find that these ships offer more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships.
The décor of Star Clipper and Star Flyer is reminiscent of the grand age of sail. Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships please the eye, while teak and gleaming mahogany rails are richly reminiscent of Star Clippers’ proud nautical heritage.
Enjoy our convivial indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar and Piano Bar, and Edwardian style library where a Belle Époque fireplace glows with a warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Clippers’ hospitable officers and crew.

Life on board
Up on the bowsprit, a couple watches the sun drop slowly into the sea, as gulls circle one last time in the sky.
Friends gather around the piano bar and join in singing a few favorites. In the Tropical Bar, the bartender shakes a pitcherful of some delicious cooling concoction. Now, is there anything more relaxing than this?
Clearly, this is not a cruise ship in the ordinary sense. On Star Clippers, you will find that there are no rigid schedules. You are free to do as you wish with your days and evenings.

To entertain you at certain ports, we bring local performers on board to give passengers an authentic taste of the local music and arts. So, rather than enduring another Broadway revue, you can enjoy the conviviality of fellow shipmates while a live band plays tropical tunes from a real paradise.
The Captain and crew are superb improvisers of the kind of light-hearted fun you’ll only find on Star Clippers. The Captain’s daily briefing on deck is wonderfully informative, as well as a chance to hear some great storytelling. There are other events and activities, such as our hilarious crab racing contests, that have evolved from Star Clippers’ sailing heritage. In fact, our passengers tell us that it’s the easy-going informality of Star Clippers that makes a cruise with us so enjoyable. |
Rates are per person double occupancy in U.S. $. Single supplement: 50% cat. 2 thru 6 (other cabin categories 100%). Rates are available to residents of U.S.A., Canada and Latin America only. Sailings are value season unless noted. |
